Crazy monsoon action resulted in a wild electrical storm in western Grand Canyon. Almost a complete accident, this camera was rolling a timelapse and started well before sunset. Shortly after the sun went down it looked like the storm would continue moving towards us, so I left the camera running, hoping the batteries wouldn’t run dead. The camera ran for more than an hour before the storm reached our campsite, when my silnylon mid suddenly didn’t feel like adequate shelter.
This is a composite of about 25 minutes of lightning on a Canon 5D – Sigma 20 1.8 – f4, iso100. August 28, 2011.
